Dayton region to open 24/7 round-the-clock crisis center for mental health and addiction support

By Zack Frink

An upcoming partnership between RI International and Montgomery County Alcohol, Drug Addiction & Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) will establish a 24/7 crisis center in Dayton to support mental health and addiction concerns, reports the Dayton Business Journal.

The big picture: Set to open this summer, the Montgomery County Crisis Receiving Center will offer essential continuous assistance for adults dealing with mental health challenges and substance use problems, welcoming walk-ins, drop-offs by first responders, and community agency referrals.

What's next: The emergency facility will provide services such as medication management, group activities, and discharge planning support, with a dedicated team of therapists, peers, and medication providers to help guests.

The backstory: The development of the center was made possible through the joint efforts of RI International, Montgomery County ADAMHS, and a variety of community stakeholders, including the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

Why it matters: The new center represents further progress in delivering comprehensive crisis services to the community, completing a three-pronged approach to crisis care that includes a call center, a mobile response team, and now an on-site facility for immediate evaluation and support.
