Dayton Young Black Professionals land new ed-tech partnership with Westchester Education Services

By Natasha Ivery, DYBP Communications Director

The Dayton Young Black Professionals (DYBP) is continuing on the path of educational development via their new partnership with Westchester Educational Services.

Westchester Education Services provides content development, art and design, project management and production services to educational publishers and ed-tech providers. The firm’s teams specialize in developing literacy, math, science, social studies and other assessment products.

The goal is to create new publishing jobs in the art industry, including art research, writing and project management. DYBP seeks to act as a liaison in recruiting young adults, ages 18-30, and creatives to work with Westchester’s publishing team.

“This partnership with Westchester Education Services is huge for DYBP and exciting because it gives us a range of tools and education to help strengthen our young adults and future leaders in the community and workforce,” said DYBP founder and executive director Daz’ja Demmings, adding that it’s important to share and maximize resources people wouldn’t have known about.

Kevin J. Gray, president and chief content officer at Westchester Education Services, said the company is committed to developing resources in the Dayton area.

“Through partnerships with organizations like DYBP, we can ensure that students are able to both see themselves in their school materials and learn about the lives of others,” he said.

The partnership achieves the Education and Workforce aspect of DYBP’s Seven Pillars of Excellence, the set of core principles that guides the organization. The Education and Workforce Pillar is designed to utilize educational and personal development tools and resources via workshops, forums and more. DYBP hopes that implementing these forms of support will help people improve their educational, career and personal lives.

Since its inception in 2018, DYBP has been intentional about fostering spaces for black professionals to work and thrive and is committed to empowering, informing and nurturing the community through services and philanthropy.
