New executive director named at Hannah’s Treasure Chest

By Zack Frink

Deanna Murphy has been named the new executive director for Hannah’s Treasure Chest, a Centerville-based organization that provides care packages of clothes, shoes, books, safety equipment and hygiene items to nearly 50 partner agencies in Butler, Greene, Montgomery and Warren counties.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead Hannah’s Treasure Chest,” said Murphy. “Our staff, volunteers, board members, partners and community all play important roles in realizing our mission. I’m looking forward to steering our collective energies toward that common goal.”

Murphy has already designed a new funding strategy structure to better aid partner agencies by making vital supplies more affordable and accessible.

Murphy takes over for Interim Executive Director Dr. Stuart A. Merl who served for five months prior to Murphy’s appointment. Michelle Coffey, special events coordinator, said Dr. Merl and his wife are extremely involved with the organization and will continue to be supporters and leaders among their volunteers.

Hannah’s Treasure Chest's board of directors is grateful to Dr. Merl for leading the organization through a period of transition.

Murphy is a Miami Valley native who joined the Hannah’s Treasure Chest team as development director in 2017 after co-founding another local nonprofit, Brigid’s Path. She lives in Miamisburg with her husband, Andy, and their three children.
