The Ohio Players rose to fame in the 70s as pioneers of street funk and underground R&B. They are one of the few bands that still perform all their music without using any computers for enhancement. Currently, the band consists of 10 members, four of which are original: James “Diamond” Williams (drums), Billy Beck (keyboard), Clarence Willis (lead guitar), and Robert Kuumba (percussion).

The Ohio Players produced over one dozen albums, three of which went consecutively platinum— “Skin Tight,” “Fire,” and “Honey”. Hit singles like “Fire,” “Love Rollercoaster,” “Funky Worm,” ”Sweet Sticky Thing,” “Love Rollercoaster,” and “Who’d She Coo” dominated the pop and R&B charts, earning them 14 gold and platinum awards. Since then, several artists like Snoop Dogg, Puff Daddy, Salt N Pepa, Sound Garden, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Paul Jackson Jr., have sampled or re-recorded their material.

The Ohio Players have also appeared on several national television programs like “Dick Clark,” “Don Kushner,” and “David Letterman.” They love continuing to entertain enthusiastic crowds all over the world with their funky grooves.
